Dijon is at SIAL!

Le Grand Dijon (Dijon Metropolitan Area) and Dijon Développement are taking part for the fourth time since 2008 in the International Food Exhibition (SIAL) in Paris from the 19th to the 23rd of October at the Parc des Expositions of Villepinte. With 150,000 visitors and 6,300 exhibitors coming from 200 countries, SIAL is the paramount professional event of the food processing industry. The development agency and the urban community along with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte-d’Or present the expertise and innovation of their partners, which are major industry players in the area: the engineering school AgroSup Dijon, the cluster “Gout Nutrition Santé” (taste nutrition health) Vitagora, the acceleration of technology transfer company (Satt) Great Eastern, the National Institute for Agronomic research (INRA), the Carnot Qualiment (quality/food) Institute, the agriculture and environment techno-pole Agronov, which is currently under construction in Bretenière.
Dijon, a major player in the application of the “Climats du Vignoble de Bourgogne” (Burgundy wine region) to the Unesco World Heritage Site, is one of four founding cities of the network of cities of gastronomy – the International City of gastronomy will be created on the site of the former “Hôpital Général” (General Hospital). Companies, laboratories and higher education centres federated within Vitagora and the scientific interest group Agrale, strong of 400 researchers, covering all disciplines of “from the garden fork to the dining fork”.  Dijon Développement and Grand Dijon contribute to the development and implementation of companies, including in the agribusiness sector, with just under 1,000 acres of new areas of activities: agro-environmental technology park Agronov, Agro Market in Cap north, tertiary activities park in Valmy, Beauregard extension of the industrial area of Longvic,  Ecopark Dijon-Bourgogne, etc.
During SIAL, four events are planned on the booth of Dijon :
  • Monday 20th of October at 4pm: Conference by Malika Mahdi (Cérélab) on the market of seniors and tasting of G-Nutrition bread. This brioche bread, unique in the world is developed in the context of the Vitagora project, and will effectively replace nutritional complements, thus offering an exclusive solution against the malnutrition of seniors. It was awarded the “SIAL great prize for innovation” in 2012.
  • Tuesday 21st of October at 3pm: Tasting of the products of the Boonsom farm, a partner of Vitagora. Detlef Weber, director of Algae Natural Food, shall present the health benefits of Spirulina, a Thai microalga rich in proteins, minerals and vitamins, seen as the food source offering the greatest nutritional concentration on the planet.
  • Wednesday the 22nd of October at 1.30 pm: Animation by Seb of the theme of connected products: discovery of Cookeo Connect.
  • Thursday 23rd of October at 11am: Exposition-animation organised by AgroSup Dijon on the theme: “What is that … vegetal… bottle of milk?  The consumption of vegetal products (tofu, rice milk, etc.) today seems to be linked to a way of life or a diet, or is a response to food allergies. But tomorrow, to feed the whole population of the planet, a better valorisation of vegetal proteins is likely to become essential.
